It is well known that beneath all the shiny dining halls, under all the fancy libraries, below the classrooms, and hidden from the observable world, there exists a underground culture like no other. A phenomenon that's been in place since the university was first established. A social occurrence only made possible by a specific demographic: your typical college student.
During the day, your average college kid wakes up with responsibility. He goes to class with academic motivation, strives to look smart, to look good, impress himself, his professors, ans his family. He does what hes told and meets his deadlines, turns in work when he is supposed to and studies for next weeks exam.
Mother would be so proud. But this is merely Tuesday here at Rutgers University. Fast forward 3 days and good old mister college kid is half a bottle deep playing pong in a moldy basement. But he's not alone. A sea of sweaty inebriants shares the night's activities. As the smell of weed smoke flutters by, Mr. College kid here decides he's not that drunk and searches for the source. Meanwhile a bunch of girls staggers past looking for more jello-shots. No can really talk, not cuz the music is too loud, people are just a little...out of it.
The bathroom is occupied with the girl who's been yackin' all night, so most guys just pee on the fence outside. Even a girl or two used the bushes out back. But it doesn't matter, Mr. College doesn't care. So he lights up his 6th or 7th cigarette (he only smokes when he's drunk) and walks back to the bus where he is greeted by another drunken militia.
He's pretty sure he flipped off a cop, sucker punched some kid his friend was fighting, stole a stop sign, and hooked up with his roommate's girlfriend. But come Monday, good old mister college kid is at the library listening to his ipod, reading his syllabus.

What Are The Benefits Here? Can You Justify The Underground?
The underground society at Rutgers, or at any school for that matter, happens every weekend, and occasionally in between. I want to ask why. Everyone knows it happens, people expect it to happen. No one questions it. But has anyone every really asked whats the point? Sure it's fun, it's social, but maybe there's more to this.
Not only do I want to know why college students chose to party and drink but I also am curious as how this will affect those who do. What kind of people like to "rage"? What kind of jobs will they get? What kind of life will they live?
This is just the beginning....
